Understanding Your Iris

Every iris is unique, and that means the level of detail we capture can vary from person to person. Some people naturally have softer, more blended patterns, while others have sharper, more defined textures — both look beautiful in their own way and create stunning artwork. To achieve the high-quality images we’re known for, we use controlled studio lighting directed toward the eye. This is a safe and quick process, but it does mean that colours can occasionally appear slightly different to how they look day-to-day in natural light. Our priority is always to capture your iris as clearly and comfortably as possible, and we’ll guide you through everything during your session.

F.A.Qs

Do all iris photos look the same?
Not at all — every iris is completely unique. Some people have naturally softer patterns and others have very sharp, detailed textures. Both styles create beautiful finished artwork.
Why does my iris look different on camera than in real life?
Studio lighting allows us to capture the fine details of your iris, but it can sometimes bring out colours or tones that aren’t always obvious in everyday light. This is perfectly normal and part of what makes iris artwork so striking.
How do we receive our iris art?
Your high resolution digital files are sent to you using a beautifull gallery that can be shared with family and friends and allows downloading of the images.
Is the light used in the session safe?
Yes. We use controlled, professional studio lighting that briefly brightens the eye so the camera can capture the detail. It’s quick, safe, and we always make sure you’re comfortable throughout the process.
Will the flash or lighting hurt my eyes?
No — the light may feel bright for a moment, but it is completely safe and doesn’t cause discomfort or damage. Our photographers will guide you through the process gently and at your pace.
Can two people have their irises photographed together?
Yes. Our two-eye option is ideal for individuals or for two people who want a paired artwork.
What's the maximum number of people we can bring in?
The more the merrier! You an bring as many people and family members as you wish for a sesion.
What is the address of the Fonthill studio?
Our studio address is: The Granary, Fonthill Bishop, SP3 5SG We are located .half a mile off the A303 and 2 miles from Tisbury.
What is the address of the Salisbury studio?

Our studio address is: Studio 8 Paxton B/C, Whittle Road, Churchfieds, SP2 7YR. We are located half a mile from the train station and 1 mile from Salisbury city centre.

How long are vouchers valid for?
The vouchers are valid for 12 months.
How long does it take to receive the artwork?

It takes around 3 working days to receive your digital images. We need this time to process and expertly edit your iris. This time is essential to make sure the process is done correctly.

Can you photograph newborn babies eyes?

Unfortunately not. While their eyes are still developing, we don’t feel it’s safe to photograph them at that stage. Once they’re around two years old and their eyes have fully developed, we’re able to go ahead with the session.

We do need them to sit still for a few moments during the photo itself, so we leave it to parents’ discretion as to whether they feel their little one is ready for that.
